About The Event

This course is for Stand Up Paddleboarders who are interested in exploring their coastlines for day tours and multi-day overnight trips. Participants are introduced to  paddling and navigating in a coastal environment with emphasis on knowledge, navigation and safety skills. The course expands on concepts introduced in the Advanced Flatwater course and applies them to a more dynamic coastal environment.

The 1 evening and 2 full days course takes place near Victoria, BC at two potential locations depending on conditions. The scenic, sheltered waters of Brentwood Bay as well as the more dynamic waters of the Southern Gulf Islands near Swartz Bay provide the backdrop for learning and exploring that will have you confidently and safely setting off on your own paddling adventures.

Join Paddle Canada instructor  Pam Martin for a SUP Touring 1 Skills Course that will teach you technique, safety, navigation, decision making as well as understanding weather and currents while you tour some of the most beautiful paddling areas of Vancouver Island. You will experience a variety of standup paddle boarding environments that will help you come away with the skills and knowledge to allow you to take on day long tours as well as get a taste for overnight trips.
